Cleaning your Cutting Mat

Welcome to Tuesday’s Tips from SewVeryEasy,
my name is Laura. And what does a fish bowl and a pastry scraper have to do with the sewing room? Well, let me show you. When we’re sewing and we finish trimming we always have a lot of scraps left over and they need to go in the garbage. And in order to keep your surface clean as you’re working, you need to clean up your surface often. The big pieces: Well, it’s easy. You can just pick it up and throw it in the garbage. That’s if your garbage happens to be handy. Mine’s never handy, so I’ve put a movable garbage on my counter. And that’s what the fish bowl’s for, because the fabric goes perfect right in the bowl. And all of the other little pieces that maybe just are too many to pick up: This is where this little scoop comes in handy because, well, just like it works for your pastries, it works for your fabric. And it keeps my surface clean and it goes wherever I need it to go. Not only is it quick and easy, but it looks nice, too. Thank you for joining me today on

in the sewing room. Bye for now!
