My name is Ryan Parker of Parker Home Renovations
of New Braunfels, Texas and today I’m going to teach you how to hire a tile installer.
Now if you plan on doing tile around the house and you don’t feel like you can do it yourself
you may need to hire somebody. The first place I would look is going to the phone book and
maybe write down a few names out of the phone book of tile installers in town. Then what
you will want to do is you’ll want to give them a phone call and ask for references.
Always ask for references because you don’t want to get involved with a bad tile installer
or a bad contractor of any kind. Ask for a couple of references and actually follow up
on those references. Give them a call and ask them what kind of work they did, what
they were like as far as getting to the job on time and did they clean up their mess when
they were done and stuff like that. The next thing you could do is you could look online
or anything like that for websites or anything for a tile installer. Now you could also go
through recommendations if you have a friend or family that have tiled in their home. You
could ask them for the name of the contractor and ask them how they liked that contractor.
When you talk to a contractor you want to ask him if he is insured or what type of warranties
he offers or what the time frame is, does he require any money down. You typically don’t
want to give him all the money upfront. If they ask for it that is usually a sign, that
is usually a bad sign. Usually anything maybe a 50% deposit or less would be o’kay but in
your case you might just want to try to talk them down as much as you can on the deposit.
