New Rulers and Mats from Quilters Select
New Rulers and Mats from Quilters Select

Welcome to SewVeryEasy, my name is Laura. And today I’d like to show you a new mat and ruler by Quilter’s Select. You can get many different sizes of rulers but the rulers have a couple of things in common. The first thing is the numbering around the ruler. The numbers run up and down. So you have the numbers going one-two-three-rfour going down but the numbers one-two-three going up. Now that’s really convenient if you ever had a ruler you’ve had to count backwards. That will avoid that. The other thing is they do have three very common measurements that you need to do on a diagonal. They have a 30°, a 45°, and a 60°. Those are very, very common measurements. The color is not quite white so it shows up good on a lot of different fabrics. But the best part is the back. The back has a non-slip surface. It’s not sticky at all. It almost feels like a felt and it really doesn’t slide. It is very, very secure when you put it on. The mat also comes in different sizes and it has a lot of the same features. You have the numbers running down on the side and you can count down as well is counting up. Just like the ruler, you have them two different colors, your black and your gray, so at a glance you know which way you’re counting. And they have them both in the top, bottom, and all of the sides. The common angles 30°, 45°, and 60°, and it has a nice gray surface. The difference with this mat is it is reversible, so if you’re doing light fabric you’re able to cut it on the dark surface; you’re using dark you can use the light surface. The mat’s not just reversible; it’s like two mats stuck together. And you can see the difference between a regular mat and their mat. Their mat is very, very thick. And by flipping that mat over as you need it, you’re going to get a lot of years wear out of this because of that thickness. Now the mat and the ruler do not need to be combined together. You can use the mat with any of your other rulers and you can use your ruler with any other mat. This really is a nice ruler. It really does not slip at all. I barely have any weight to that ruler and it really holds that fabric down so none of your fabric is going to slip and slide as you cut it. So next time you visit your quilt store check out the new mat and the rulers. I think you’re going to be very impressed. Thank you for joining me today on SewVeryEasy. Feel free to subscribe and, as always, come on back. Let’s sew what we’re sewing next time in the sewing room. Bye for now.

Oh I definitely need help with slipping rulers. My hands just can't hold pressure any more. Since my budget blew up LOL and went DOA ….have to wait …and maybe wait a bit more. Til then….I'll be here with slippin and slidin fabric and bad cuts 🙂

The numbers go from left to right, up and down and vice versa so left handed and right handed people can use them easily. Alex Anderson, in conjunction with Floriani RNK Distributing, came up with the idea, because Alex is left handed. I think it's fantastic, and the rulers really do hold the fabric down with little effort from the person doing the cutting. I have several of the rulers, as well as the mats. They are all fantastic!

The Buy buttons seem to be missing from the web site.

I was fortunate enough to attend a seminar with Alex Anderson in Sacramento last summer and these rulers are the BEST EVER! I had an opportunity to use these rulers at this seminar and was sold instantly. She has introduced a wonderful line of products.

  6. Linda Clark says:

per Alex there is no need for a rotating mat

I have the largest ruler from QS, and it is fabulous! It does not slide, but it also does not "grab" the fabric when you pick it up. It's frosted, like frosted glass is the best description that I can give. Love the ruler. I did not buy a mat, as I wanted a larger size so waiting till they do larger size mats. This is my go to ruler these days, and I will likely buy additional sizes.
