I’m Deborah Wilding I’m a Tutor here at the Royal School of Needlework and I’m here to share with you my passion for Jacobean Crewelwork and take you through this wonderful technique. Needlework has a rich history dating back hundreds of years with traditions maintained by those who are committed to sharing their love of this beautiful and expressive art form. The Royal School of Needlework is recognised as an international centre of excellence dedicated to maintaining this tradition and making embroidery accessible to all. Introducing a range of stitches and an element of shading, Crewelwork is an ideal technique for those new to embroidery as well as the more experienced stitcher. During this course, you’ll master trellis stitch I’ll teach you how to do a raised stem band you’ll learn seeding stitches how to do perfect French knots and I’ll show you chain stitch, stem stitch and more. Through exclusive videos and step-by-step instructions you’ll create your own piece, learning these stitches as well as best practice for successful embroidery. Work at your own pace, watch these videos as often as you want and connect with other students on the course. Here at the Royal School of Needlework, we’ve brought this popular course online so it’s now even easier to get started.

    Wonderful idea. I have enjoyed courses at Hampton Court but found the travelling and hotel costs have become prohibitive so this is very good news. a little moan: The music on the video is too loud!

    I have taken some classes from RSN years ago in the San Francisco Bay Area. Fabulous instruction! Jacobean embroidery is my favorite. Come September I will be diving into needlework again. Looking forward to having the video to encourage me every day!

    lmao- goal is to make embroidery accessible to all?! yah- for 13,000 pounds per school year- not exactly accessible
    – at lkeast their video tutorials are high quality
