The Advantages of Using Tray Ceilings for Your New Home

Okay, now we’re in a bedroom. Here to talk a little bit about tray
ceilings. What we have here Rick is one of the options. Let’s talk about that. You bet, with tray ceilings you typically
have two options. The one we have here today is a built down
tray, which they’ve framed the tray ceiling down below the roof truss system. Your other option is you can have a tray ceiling
that’s built up and designed into your roof trusses. Couple things to point out with a built-down
tray system like we have here is you need to accommodate what we call fire stop. Say a fire starts in this room, gets in this
wall cavity, we need to be able to keep it from getting in that tray system and spreading
to the rest of the structure. Two ways we do that is by along the edge of the wall where you see the tray, there’s a blocking line to keep that flame spread from getting
in there. Also, inside this built down tray, we’ve drywalled
the bottom of the roof system to keep that flame spread from getting into your attic.
